On Sunday June 28, 2015 we had a "teaching Liturgy" where the Liturgy of Preparation (Proskomedia, the preparation of the bread and wine to be consecrated as the Body and Blood of Christ), was done outside the altar enclosure, in full view and with commentary. This element of the Sunday Liturgy is usually done in private. Indeed, it is often done with no one present in church but the priest. And so many parishioners are not aware of how the bread is presented. What the priest sets up each week is an image of Christ surrounded by the saints (including his holy Mother on his right side ["on His right hand stood the queen, ..."]) and by the Faithful, both living and departed. In other words the image on the discos (paten) is that of the Church as the mystical Body of Christ. ...
THE GATHERING - 05/16/15
The Gathering is a multi-cultural festival held in Waterbury every May. This was our first year participating; representing the Slavic lands (and Orthodox Christianity).
We're now ready to "break ground" for the garden. We will be adding photos as we track the progression of our work.
